Collectors deserve an honest valuation of what their collection will yield in the real world. An insurance appraisal’s job is to produce a defensible number in case of loss and is appropriate in some circumstances — however it is most often not in alignment with the value relative to what things will sell for in the secondary market.
Consider what has happened to the market in recent years. Lab grown diamonds have captured retail market share and effectively changed the entire secondary market in certain categories. Post-pandemic price corrections are real, values change and time alters the direction in both retail and secondary markets. A watch market that moved dramatically during COVID has since recalibrated.
What collectors actually need is someone who follows these markets continuously, understands the difference between replacement value and fair market value, and will tell them the truth without an agenda — not to protect an insurance policy, not to make a sale, but simply because the truth is what allows smart decisions.
That is what Real Market Intelligence is. It is advisory, not bureaucratic. It is honest, not inflated. And because I am also a buyer, there is always a natural next step if you decide to sell.

I maintain an active office in the Cherry Creek area of Denver where clients bring their collections for in-person review. There is something irreplaceable about holding an exceptional piece under proper light, turning it slowly, seeing what only direct examination reveals.
If you are in the Denver area I welcome you to visit by appointment. For collections that are large or particularly significant, I am also available to come to you — bringing a portable gem lab — for an additional travel fee. Exceptional collections deserve examination on their own terms.
